About Real Realty, LLC
Rak Realty was formed in 1977 for the purpose of acquiring properties in need of renovation and converting them into residential, multifamily use. Since 1987, the firm also has constructed new multifamily and single family homes.
Today this family business includes three generations: Frank Rak, John Rak, Andrew Rak, Paul Rak, Stephen Rak and Elizabeth Rak Roberts. Operating mainly in Middletown for over 30 years, they own and manage 18 properties with 199 units in Middletown, Cromwell and Norwich, Connecticut.
Unique restoration and conversion projects include 135 Pearl Street - St. Luke's Home - and 62 Loveland Street - the Florence A. Stillman School.
Originally built as a home for elderly women who were widows of Civil War veterans, the renovation of the former St. Luke's Home into 9 apartments so carefully preserved all the distinguishing original qualities that it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 29, 1982.
The renovation of the Florence A. Stillman School converted an elementary school into 28 apartment units in 1983. Originally built in 1936, this renovation kept many original aspects of the building which now features uniquely designed apartments with multi-levels, vaulted ceilings, lofts and patios.
The Rak's are Middletown natives, and they take great pride in the improvements they have effected, both in the restored and newly built properties and in the improvements the town has enjoyed through their development and construction efforts.
